At times we will all reach a crossroad in our relationship with another when we will experience an incident that will force us to reevaluate the importance of that connection. That relationship may force you to look at the very foundation upon which you thought you were building your life and then to feel it all crumble beneath your feet. You thought you were living your dream and then you wonder if it’s the wrong dream and should you keep trying to make it work.

You know you can either succumb to that experience or take inventory of your life and decide what you want to be different. Do you feel caught up in a thought loop you know you reinforce by talking and thinking about your pain, your problems, your loss and the people that have caused this suffering. So you seek external activities to solve your problems and you also look at ways to heal your internal thoughts. Or were you seeking to portion that blame onto others.

Sometimes you need to look at your thoughts and take ownership of your emotions. Do you want to learn from this disturbance in your energy field? Until you can accept your part in the creation of your drama, you cannot change any part of it and you open the door to recreate it again. Quite often it’s the relationships that we form with the other and the hard knocks of experience that build character, understanding and compassion within us. Take a moment to reflect on what is happening in your life and write down what you want from it.

For example the person you are having a drama with is a reflection of you and what is happening in your life. Does this incident mean you are no longer in alignment with how that person thinks and feels? Make a decision on how you want to be in that relationship with the other. Then make a commitment to yourself to mentally rehearse your new behaviors until they become a habit. You are what you tend to repeatedly do.

Simply view your lack of something as energy passing through your consciousness, then relax and release it rather than contract and close off. Accept the disturbance in your energy field, let it pass through you and allow the uneasiness to work its way out of you. Stay open and don’t block or try and hold onto the tension. Acknowledge your thoughts and feelings and thank all the parts of yourself for sharing. Meditate, read, write, exercise or focus on what you want to occur in your life and be patient to allow time to naturally do its work like magic.

Periodically we all need to take inventory of our life, review our programs, brush our thoughts and reset what we want to be different in our relationships with the other. So what is your commitment for this coming year, go on, give it a go and see what happens.
