The Seed of Purpose

Very few people achieve any degree of financial success regardless of their level of income during their most productive years.  Most people live their lives under the delusion that they are immortal.  They squander their money, their time, and their minds with activities that are tension relieving rather than goal achieving. Most of us work to get through the week with the hope that we have enough extra money to spend on the weekend.

We dream that the winds of fate will blow us into some rich and mysterious port of call.  We have a vision that when we retire someday in the distant future, we will live on fantasy island somewhere, somehow.  The reason why so many of us fail to achieve our goals, is that we never really set them in the first place.  Yet we know that there are very few if any shortcuts to success.  So what is the power the driving mechanism, that moves us towards our most dominant thoughts?

Stop for a moment and think about why you behave the way you do.  What are some of the things you just do that you really don’t want to do, that you know are not good for your wellbeing?   Maybe it is smoking, drinking, overeating, being late, nail biting, feeling depressed or being cynical.  These are all learnt habits that suggest some challenges with your self-esteem.  Be determined to change your mindset, if you want material and spiritual success.

You have an inbuilt computer called the reticular activating system (RAS) branching out from your brain stem.  It filters all incoming sensory stimuli through taste, sight, sound, smell and touch to determine what will make an impression on your mind.  Your RAS is where your beliefs are programmed and where you place your awareness, like the sound of a child crying rather than road traffic.  The RAS filters what you have unconsciously decided as important stimuli and alerts your consciousness of its presence.

You program your RAS to be success-prone or accident-prone by what you give importance to in your thinking and in your conversations with others.  Your RAS is recording everything you do and see in real time and turns your desires or fears into reality.  It does this when you place your awareness repeatedly on what you are focusing on.  Your awareness will always move your whole being into the direction of your most current dominant thoughts.  Your past, your losses, your grief, all the missed opportunities … dwell on them if you must and be totally with your sorrow.  When you have had enough of the sorrow, turn your focus into the direction of what you now want out of your life.

Your RAS will know by your actions, your intention and will block out the unimportant information like being stuck in traffic.  It will help you to concentrate on your new priorities, like driving home safely.  Your game of fortune is your game of choices.  All your decisions have and will forever influence your future.  So you may want to place some thought, on the direction of your thinking process.

The seed of purpose determines where and how you focus your thoughts.  What you want to achieve, where you want to go, who you want to be, when you will succeed, why you do what you do.  These seeds map your future life path, moulds your character to fit the model of the vehicle you will ultimately drive.  If you have no desire to achieve a particular outcome then it does not matter which path you follow.  All paths will take you to where you want to go.
